I purchased this automobile to apply solely for long travels. Afterward two failed trips, Im scared to even drive it. I drove two hours to Savannah and pulled into the hotel parking lot and the car cut off earlier I could pull all the way end. I started information technology support and thankfully information technology started simply the check engine light came on. Needless to say, I used an uber for the rest of that trip. I had no problems on the drive back dwelling and the bank check engine light was no longer on. Anybody told me to bank check the gas cap; but I took the auto to the mechanic as soon as I got habitation. He stated the motorcar drove fine for him and information technology could possibly be the cam shaft sensor just he wasn't 100% certain. He insisted it was condom to drive. Fast forward to i weekend later (today). Im driving to Atlanta and the same matter happens. This fourth dimension, I'thousand in traffic. Traffic goes from 65 miles an hour to 20...

Equally I'g inching thru traffic I noticed that when I touched the brakes lightly it feels as if I'thousand punching the gas. This instantly alarms me that something isn't right. I'm 35 miles from my destination and apace realized that the car wants to cut off once the car start decelerating to lower speeds. Information technology's ok as long as I'm going 65 miles per hr. Unfortunately traffic wasn't moving fast so I had to go from seventy to 20... A pretty gradual yet dramatic stop for the engine. This occurred several times throughout that trip. I wasn't until I was 15 miles from my exit - the machine finally shut off, while on the highway. Thankfully I was only going 12 miles per hour at the time simply that was quite a scary feeling to know that ur seconds from beingness stranded far from home and in the middle lane of highway traffic.

Every bit a female person, I feel completely dangerous driving this car anywhere else. I'm at my hotel now and I was searching to trouble shoot the effect only to notice that others have been having similar issues. This seems to exist an ongoing consequence with this particular model. Ive only had the machine a year and Im completely disappointed in my buy. I wish I had seen this site prior to my purchase. I planned on giving the automobile to my 17 yr old son but I wouldn't sell this automobile to my enemy. This car needs to be recalled and repaired. I'm simply thinking about how I'm going to go home from this trip.

ii.4 Engine cam shaft RELUCTOR. Every bit if the cam sensor wasn't a big enough pain in the ass for the millions of people who ain this verbal car, you're potentially really in trouble. My 2013 Equinox with the 2.4 had the cam position sensor replaced once. That would exist one engine code, not sure which. This is a totally different code. Basically when they take off the valve cover (300$ job) they find that your exhaust cam shaft has a reluctor wheel which has shifted due to poor engine design. This reluctor is pressure fitted into your frazzle cam shaft. To supplant this and make your engine go vroom again, they'll accept to replace your unabridged cam shaft, AND timing kit. This is absolutely essential to make your engine go vroom again.

It's costing me 2800$ Full, information technology could cost less, just we decided to take it in to get looked at commencement (100$) and get an oil change (40$) the residuum comes out to virtually 2800$ total. This is a big deal. We were looking at potentially replacing the entire engine, or getting a whole new auto. This would exist the cheapest way out of this problem. Take intendance of your engine, go regular oil changes, baby the engine or y'all could be next.

Beware, do not buy ane of these cars. A 90's JDM Japanese car will last you a life time without hardly breaking. Get one of those earlier you purchase a GM garbage car. They're non fabricated to last, they're made to interruption in a few years so you lot have to keep ownership them. Be smart.

My 2013 Chevy Equinox engine would suddenly dice/turn off when I stopped at a ruby-red low-cal or at an intersection. It didn't brand an odd noise, nor did it have any jerking motion equally 1 might expect. The engine would merely die/turn off. I'd have to put my hazards on, put the car in park, and restart the automobile to go it going again. I learned to put the car in neutral at stops or intersections to keep the engine from dying. Awful experience and glad no one crashed into me from behind.

I bought a 2013 Equinox about 2 years ago, with a rebuilt championship and 23,000 miles on, the machine was running just fine, until a couple of days ago coming from piece of work in the freeway I slow down due to traffic and at times to accelerate, the machine stalled and turned off in the middle of the motorway, I turned it back on and slowly accelerating I was able to become it running in a faster step, so I was driving 60 miles just fine. I called the mechanic while driving and I went straight to his house, he cleaned the throttle and the oil was 1 quarts short. He got the computer one and got a reading P0011, that is possibly the two solenoid valve going bad. I ordered both of them online and I haven't received information technology however. In the meantime I still need to apply the car to go to work and praying to help me for the adjacent couple of days until I replace the camshaft and the intake valves. I promise this will fix my problem. If anyone has a ameliorate diagnostic, delight let me know. I think I will never purchase a Chevy again....

I purchased my Equinox brand new from Chevy dealer it had zero miles, my offset : American car! I am five months away from paying it off. Driving home from work ane solar day on the fricken' highway going 65 MPH, car merely dies. The speedometer starts going downwardly, the gas pedal had no resistance and I was freaking out! Luckily I was able to pull over to the shoulder but was very close to the passing cars. I tried to starting time it nothing! Concluded upward towing my car and there it sits!

I do not know where to start, information technology does not turn over simply makes a whining noise. I had a homo expect at it and said it's my timing chain and it could have damaged my motor, and so that was worst case scenario. I oasis't towed it to a store, since I do not have the money to pay for a NEW MOTOR or a rebuilt 1. Hell, I am still paying on the car!!!

I do non know. People are giving opinions just since I am reading threads anybody seems to have the same issue and I am wondering why this has not been addressed. I desire to think it is something pocket-sized and a motorcar existence five i/two years old could not possibly need a new motor!!!

On March 16th 2016 I purchased a used 2013 Chevy Equinox. I traded in my 2005 Toyota Camry. The full price of the car was $17,500/$543.17 a month. Motorcar ran great for 1st 8 months. Took it in for my 2d oil modify and mechanic told me my car was out of oil. Wow, a 2013 car running out of oil. Oil will not last betwixt oil changes. Oil changes aren't cheap. $seventy-$85 depending on where I accept it.

My side by side issue was concluding summer. I was driving from Pittsburgh to Charleston SC. On the way dwelling house my check engine light came on. Engine power reduced warning came on. I was in the center of bum-FK West Virginia. I made information technology home luckily. I needed a sensor. $350

Over past few months I notice that car wants to stall out. I was like OK. Information technology's not real bad. Then on September 1st my machine would stall out every time I was at end sign or red light. So I took it to my local mechanic. He telling me take to the Chevy dealer.

I take a low paying task. It'south tough paying car payment, insurance, and repairs plus all my month toll of living bills. Chevy needs to be aware that they made a bad machine and ship out a think. I'thou going to have infringe money from parents to pay the repair(south).

I'll never buy another American made auto once again. Every bit soon equally this paid off I'm buying a Toyota. They should larn something from them. My 2005 Camry had 250,000+ never once had an issue.

I hope Chevy read these complaints !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been complaining nigh this Effect for a long time. Way earlier the warranty (I had paid for the extended warranty) ran out. The auto feels like it will stall any infinitesimal and it never gets into the right gear. I'm told it'due south an oil consumption issue, but that'due south afterwards Ive paid for a mess of other things to encounter if that was it. GM did give me a deal (HAHAHA) because it was now out of warranty of $2000 for the repair.

I drive A LOT and have had all types of cars/suvs but this just drove awful. The car wasn't cheap and with all the repairs/oil changes/parts, I take spent over $vi,000. I notwithstanding owe a few monthly payments of $435. Crazy correct ...

When I spent the $2000 I thought; ok, that'south done. It should be ok to requite to my daughter who hardly drives. Kinda like a new car after all those repairs. Well information technology even so drives like garbage and just stopped/stalled out on the highway. Cracking.

Bought the 2013 Equinox LT in 2016; collection for 2 years no problem; since the last 30 days, happened randomly twice so far; the rpm would be slightly lower than usual ~500 instead of shut to 1000rpm; engine would milk shake significantly upon idle/stepped-on-brake, and would completely stall when I permit go of brake pedal, with or without stepping on gas pedal; if step on gas pedal hard plenty, the car would get passed onto 2nd gear very roughly and human activity normal as long as it stays above 2nd gear; otherwise, if gas pedal not applied or not applied enough, transmission failed to transfer from 1st into 2nd gear; car can be instantly restarted as of at present and would human activity completely normal until another random time.

p.southward. could be related to how car starts up, of the 2 incidents I had so far, equally presently as I start the automobile, I could feel the abnormal vibration physically right away; if the car "starts right", engine would be smooth and no vibration, and stall would not happen throughout that entire detail run.

p.s.ii Imagine your are going uphill on 1st gear irresolute into 2nd on low rpm and engine stall (about guaranteed if it'due south in "incident mode"), adept luck applying the weirdly designed clutch-positioned "feet/manus-brake".

p.s.3 Because selling auto but paid $18500 in 2016, ii years later, merchandise in value is ~$10000; not sure nigh averaging $4k/year however, as opposed to if I go along information technology a few year longer, would become ~$2k/year. Dang information technology, it ruined my game plan man!

p.s.4 Without this event, the overall Equinox driving feeling does feel firm, stable and nice. I one time told myself, this is how a part model of modern car should be... well, at least for the past ii years... hmmmm...

Frustrating. I am getting the runaround from Chevy and the dealership.

I live and work at the same place, therefore I don't drive as much as the average person. So why is my engine acting like I drive beyond the country every day? My car stalled multiple times, I took it into the dealership, they say: "you're out of oil silly"

Little do they realize, I but recently put oil in, and I got no notification that there was a trouble until it stalled. I am fully aware that driving without sufficient oil is bad, and I know that for the amount that I drive (which is little) I am worrying too much about the corporeality of oil in my car. I shouldn't be putting in as much oil equally I am...

The dealership connects the stalling problem to not having enough oil. I tell Chevy that at that place is a trouble with their engines oil consumption. They say, take it to the dealer, you lot accept a think on your wiper blades.

I'grand all in for a class action when it comes effectually (I hope it does), cause this is a serious dangerous outcome that Chevy is avoiding.Stalling and nearly getting in an accident--no thanks!

I bought a Chevy Equinox 2013 for the offset time ever in March 2016.

The car was driving well for a year. But out of the blue, at that place seems to be engine problems. The automobile would stall at depression speeds. Yesterday after parking at a shopping mail parking lot, I tried to start the car and information technology started vibrating. The dashboard gave a initial message 'Stabilitrack mistake" and then "reduced engine power'.

Afterward that the car stopped totally and had to tow it away to a garage.

The Mechanic just chosen me and told me that that the engine is no good and I have to replace the engine...total price is $5000 !!

I definitely practice not want to incur this cost and exercise not want to continue this Chevy Equinox anymore...Will never e'er buy a Chevy product over again in my life. Costly fault.

Bought the car used from a dealer in April 2016 that had done a certified pre owned check on the car. Car ran great for exam bulldoze. Nearly immediately later on buying the car it started to act like the engine was braking as well as the transmission downwardly shifting when slowing down to a terminate. I didn't retrieve much of information technology at first.

And then about i month after ownership it, I got in vehicle started it up usually and when I put it in gear and began to drive information technology died suddenly, put into neutral restarted and information technology did the aforementioned thing, got information technology to keep running the 3rd fourth dimension but it ran with a lot of hesitation until I got it upwardly to about 25 mph. Ran fine rest of the day and so did it over again that evening, same verbal scenario. Ran fine for near ii more weeks and did information technology once more.

This time I called a buddy of mine that owns a garage and does all of my work and said you demand to keep the oil changed in those Equinox vehicles and it might exist a throttle trunk is muddy. Had oil changed with synthetic oil which was a quart low after merely 3000 miles, throttle body was clean and he told me that on these cars the cam shaft sensor volition get dirty and clogged if you don't keep the oil changed (which I never ran more than 3000 miles between changes but I don't know the previous owner may have not kept oil changed and the sensor may accept been bad when I got it?). We agreed to drive it later oil change and meet what happens? Information technology is worse at present than ever, daily outcome now, might be okay for a bit and and so suddenly occur.

I'thousand taking in to get the cam shaft sensor replaced and hope it fixes the problems but I am concerned that with a problem that seems to exist so prevalent that this doesn't seem to have a good solid reply listed anywhere on the internet? I'thou certain Chevrolet knows this is an issue based on the number of complaints on this specific motor/automobile combo having this issue.

Why isn't this either a recall issue or well documented of what to do? Information technology is a pretty dangerous problem the way it happens and without a check engine light on? My mechanic did find a code for information technology though when he hooked information technology upwardly? I won't let my wife or kids bulldoze it, this is not prophylactic and its not like the car hasn't been taken care of or it looks like its in mechanically bad shape in anyway. That is what makes it then dangerous!

Update from Oct 31, 2016: Fixed car myself, but set, intake and exhaust sensor both have i bolt and merely electric connection cap, took longer to take the oestrus shield and breather off and put back on than to supplant the parts. These were about likely already oil clogged when I purchased vehicle and didn't get replaced past the dealer during inspection. Keeping the oil changed on schedule is obviously a fundamental to keeping these sensors/solenoids from becoming muddied and chock-full which causes the failure. If I would have had it fixed past a store they told me $400 to do the chore, each function is well-nigh $50 and you should probably become alee and supercede both the intake and exhaust sensor since they are right side by side to i another and then only to do. If they aren't marked at the parts store make certain and inquire the counter person to marking which one is which to avert problems when y'all put them dorsum in. They look pretty much exactly the aforementioned.

I really idea when I bought this car that this was the best motorcar ever. I usually buy a FORD but I stepped out and bought a CHEVY. After all the bug I take had I regret this determination I should of stayed with FORD. So the trouble I am experiencing is I have brought my car in the shop and each time there is a problem. First my motor went out on my windshield wipers. Now this new thing took my car in on 8/23/16 and they tell me my timing chain needs to be foxed so $1995 later I fix it. i week later it is still idling and then I make a apt accept it in on 10/5/xvi and they tell me my oil is low and I demand a oil change. So I do that endeavor to leave and now my machine stalled on me 4 times. Take it right back and they tell me they not sure what is going on cause my bank check engine light is not even on. And so they charged me for a diagnostic when I simply had one 1 calendar month agone. I am PISSED. Like I don't have coin to keep giving this dealership. This is ridiculous. I took the motorcar to Suburban Chevrolet in Ann Arbor MI which I don't recommend anybody to go in that location at all.
